It coaxed the bashful from the farm girls and fueled the frenzy of a new found freedom. Fashionable clothes adorned the nightclub festivities. Pin-stripes and frill polished the style of the times. The American jazz culture washed over the shores of Europe as a transatlantic exchange of liberalism increased. High fashion was the look of the day and the American ideal became consumed by it. The sexy clinging dress of the flappers with dropping necklines and ankles exposed were the scorn of the temperance movement. The very scenario that they warned us would lead to our downfall ended up empowering a nation.
